Tata Nano on Fire Literally!

Tato Nano goes up in flames again, this time in Delhi! This is the third time something of this sort is reported about this budget car. After the first two incidents in Vadodara and Mumbai, a thorough investigation and testing was carried out in major labs in India and TATA had reported that nothing major was identified which had caused the fire. But then the latest incident is going to be a major setback to the promotion of the car for the future.

Tata Nano, because of the way it was designed and developed in a cost effective way, was considered to be one of the top innovations of last year. Even TATA's were considered to be one of the innovative brands in existence (Apple with all it's products remains at the top).

But then coming up with a car for such a low cost had obviously raised so many doubts and questions in peoples mind about the quality and security. We still don't have a clear answer as the incidents are only happening randomly. And it's hard to believe that a brand like the TATA's is going to compromise on quality and put their reputation at stake.

So is it some sabotage plan to Ratan Tata's vision? You never know! It may as well be some corporate strategy. Cannot rule out the possibility.

I also have a view point here to share. Do i agree to Ratan Tata's vision? No. As a common man i don't agree to it. I cannot visualize a world where everyone is able to afford a car. Cars replacing all the bikes because of the same pricing. We will just contribute more to the environmental hazards and traffic clogs thats already aplenty in availability. People like Ratan Tata should invest more on Eco-friendly technology for automobiles instead of being only a business person. But then he's an iconic business person only looking at the ROI.

One funny thing i feel about the Nano's when i see them on road. I feel like calling out "ey Auto!" because it sounds and looks more like an hybrid auto rickshaw. While sharing all this, in parallel, i was going through all the options available for a bigger car which i'm buying soon :)

Govt. rejects Vedanta plan on Green worries !!!

So what's the conspiracy here. How come our government became so much nature conscious?

News article about Central government rejecting the mining plans of global company Vedanta Resources in Orissa is on the rounds today. Not just this but also Vedanta's plan for taking over Cairn India, an oil exploring firm in the country, was taken warmly by the Indian stock markets yesterday, rising the price of Cairn by as much as 4%. This acquisition might probably make the CEO of the company, Mr. Anil Agarwal, the richest man in India overtaking Mukesh Ambani. But then the Indian government seems to be worried about the acquisition move as it feels it's going to create an imbalance in the sector!

Thumbs up to the government if it's really worried about the natural resources and the tribal's welfare and all the etc. But honestly it's hard to believe so as coal mines are getting plundered in Bellary (Karnataka) and places alike in India whose legality is a big question mark. One thing is for sure- Vedanta is going to execute their INR40000 Crore plans in Orissa. This litigation is just a political joke for the time being.

FDI grows by 80 times in 5 years!

Again a news article from TOI which says foreign direct investment in India's real estate and housing sector has increased 80 folds in last 5 years. Now you may get a feel of why the price of property somewhere like in Mumbai or namma Bangalore is unbelievably high.

FDI investment used to be around INR171 crore in 2005 and now it has grown to a staggering INR14000 crore!!!

Poor MP's of India!!!

Poor MP's of India, they deserve a 500% hike in salary.......

Give me a bloody break!!!

This is one of the irritating articles which appeared recently (and still continuing) in almost all new channels and newspapers (Times, Hindu, Deccan etc)

I am not able to decipher what the hell this hike hungama is all about ! Already Left, Right and Under the table these poor MP's are making in millions (Out of 543 MPs in Lok Sabha, 315 are crorepatis). I am having to agree to someones comment recently about me "You seem to be kind of naive about Indian politics." Truly i am!

Shut down of Blackberry services in India?

My first article is a view point on the Indian government's stand on Blackberry services.

Reference is the news article by Times of India which says "Install server or close messenger, govt tells BlackBerry" dated 22 Aug 2010.

It'll be really interesting to see how Blackberry is going to deal with such a situation, a race against time and Indian government. Blackberry is having more than one million subscription base in India, mainly the business class. Critical for them as India inc. as well as the world may think twice before investing in Blackberry services in the future as it may impact their business as well.
